AAOFM. Making Healthy Choices Easier

This campaign imagines a world with strict food marketing guidelines, where the governmental body AAOFM (Australian Association of Food Marketing) is responsible for the packaging and labelling of all food products. The AAOFM empowers customers to choose healthier products and encourages consumers to be interested in what goes into the food they eat. The packaging is ingredient-focused with the images being sized based on the amount of the ingredient in the product to represent the product accurately. The packaging is linked to a website that shows the consumer information on the ingredients in the product so the consumer can make an educated decision about the food they eat. Strict product naming is followed to avoid having misleading products in the supermarkets.

This project was inspired by an interest in nutrition and based on the information  collected from a design research kit (pictured  below) with a test pool of 20 people. The data from this research was able to highlight what was stopping  people from accessing healthy foods.

Can I Pat This Dog? Teaching kids how to interact with dogs safely

This Instruction project aims to teach children how to safely interact with dogs. The target audience is kindergarden to early primary school children, as they are the group most likely to be bitten by a dog other than babies. Children at this age tend to be very excited by dogs but this often puts them in more danger. This activity helps children understand when a dog would like to be interacted with and when a dog needs space.  Dog body language and communication is a very complex topic that would benefit from being simplified. A puzzle format was chosen because children learn better through doing things physically as this activates the problem solving part of the brain.

World Game Day Cards

As a collector of card games, this deck of cards was made in celebration of World Games Day. The designs focus on well-known games as well as movies featuring games such as poker, chess and mahjong.  This project was for an illustration elective based on the brief of illustrating an invitation for a red letter day of our choosing.

Packaging an Emotion: Hotsauce Brand

This Project was based on eliciting an emotion through packaging. The  hot sauce packaging is meant to elicit feelings of fear in a cheeky and playful way, with the concept of almost daring the customer to try the sauce. They are packaged in small glass jars to suggest that the sauce is extremely spicy since you don’t need much. Additionally, the chilli oil is packaged in a dropper bottle to elude to the idea that the oil is so spicy you only need a few drops. Further, the dropper itself is meant to resemble a match stick to have an association with fire and heat.
